    Rooftop Tents

    Hi all
i have been looking at some rooftop tents for my trip over east later next year.
i need to get a roof rack to fit this aswell.
i was wanting to get a roofrack where i can store my jerry cans (about 6 of them) aswell as have room for the roof top tent.

Any idea about what rack i need to buy for one of these? i have seen some with Rhino bars, but that will not help me with taking the jerry cans.

anyone have any experience with these tents?
    or any ideas?
    cheers

Mate, ya should look into a long range tank, carting fuel on the roof is heavy and they often wear a hole in themselves especially off road.
6 jeries is about 170kgs, a lot of weight on the gutter.
    Go'n by experience here.
    Cheers, the ferret

LRA will do 2 tanks for a GU

A Sub tank upgrade from 35 to 70 lts and a rear tank upgrade from 90 to 145lts. Thats an extra 80lts or 4 jerry cans.

    LRA - Long Range Tanks

Or Brown davis for a similar size upgrade but their list is only for the back one

    Brown Davis Long Range Tanks

And in terms of a Rack to go with your roof top tent, i reckon that is a no brainer mate, I'd have one of these, no question.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

I totally agree with you guys, we wouldn't go back to a normal tent again, we love our roof topper. Also i have both of the LRA tanks fitted to the Gu & can attest to their quality, sub is a mongrel to fit tho.

while we are on rooftop tents.
Any ideas which rooftop tent is the easiest to fold up and go?
as when we go away, we will be using the car for cruising around daily, and i have heard there are ones that fold up and thats it pretty much.
A 2 minute job. Some take a while to put away.

I've got a "Hannabil" tent which is pretty heavy canvas & a little fiddly to setup/packup. We have used the "red centa" & "open sky" brands & they are lighter & easier to erect/dismantle.
