    Brake booster

    Hi all

I am after some info in regards to brake boosters
For a 3.0lt petrol GQ patrol.
I went to get a pink slip last week and the guy said my brake booster
Needs to be replaced, he took me out side and push hard
On the brake pedals and the motor went a bit sluggie. He said it's caused
By a hole in the diaphragm in the booster????

My rig only done 70,000 from new and I was told that the reason why it's failed is from
Lack of use.. Can this be true??

I have rung around and can get a reco one for about 350 but I need to supply the booster and will take a week. Any one know any wreckers in nsw that has a few patrols
I been looking but can not find any or is there any aother compatible
    Booster I can use..
Any help would be great all.

    Cheers

    Tom

i take it that it is a petrol "opps forget that re read it lol" if the diaphram in booster is perished it can and will allow the engine to flutter as an petrol engine needs high manifold vaccum to run at idle
    do this mate
    1-engine of
    2-pump brake till very hard
3-then leave foot on brake pedal and start engine it should depress even more because of the vaccum asisstance!!
4-if engine is running and foot depressed can you hear a hissing from inside the cab??
5-remove the nuts secureing the master cylinder to the booster " dont remove the brake lines,or you will need to bleed system"
6-and have an eye spy at the seal at the back of the master cyl ? is it leaking fluid ? if so you will need to replace aswell as the fluid can travel into the booster and deteriorate the diaphram!!
    if it
