    GU Drink Holders

Has any tried the GU replacement drink holders? Apparently they are available now but wondering if they are better then those originally supplied. At $50 they are expensive to replace. thanks

I have read a lot about this subject & all have said the factory ones are not much chop for the price, you can buy A/M of Ebay which seen to be better than the Nissan ones but a lot of blokes have made there own & with good results too. I try & find some pics or links for you.

    Cheers

p.s Mate go Have a look in the introductions section & whack a thread up in there & tell us a bit about yourself. Its a good way to get to know the other members & for them to get to know you.

Is this what you were looking for Paul?

Made from 80mm downpipe joiners available from plumbing supplies or Bunnings for about $5 each.

They're not quite the right shape when you get them, so heat them up with a heat gun until they are soft and then force them down into the drink holder space, you end up with what you see in the picture above. Hit them with a couple of coats of grey interior paint, and it will look like Mr Nissan put them there!

my patrol must have the new ones already installed. They are velcroed to the original spot and hold the bottles well. No Dramas.

Had my patrol for a week and in that time managed to spill 2 beers into the gear lever boot, ended up buying the genuine nissan ones from nizzbits ($38 to my door). Not overly happy with them as not much fits in them very well but have not had a spillage since. I would make the bunnings ones if I ever needed to do it again
