    1992 GQ lubricating oil query

    Hi guys,
I have a 1992 GQ sST 3L petrol patrol which does very low kms pa. I also have Castrol oil purchased for use in a Peugeot diesel engine ie high quality synthetic oil designed for use in diesels.
Will I run into/create any problems short or long term if I use the high grade synthetic oil in theengine of the Patrol?
    Advice please

    Welcome to the forum.

Be sure to post up an intro in our introductions section when you get a chance.

For starters synthetic & mineral oils do not mix so if you intend to go synthetic you will need at least 2x oil & filter changes in close succession possibly even 3 in order to clear out your system & this is an expensive exorcize unless you have 25lts or so of synthetic kicking around.

As for running the synthetic diesel oil itself? Im not 100% sure & as its the life blood of your engine I couldn't make that call.

    Hi patch697,
Thanks for your words of wisdom. As a retiree the requisite amount of "flushing" synthetic oil @ $7 a litre for an uncertain result does not seem a good or viable option. Back to the good quality mineral 20/50!
