Here's ours in action at Outback Challenge in 06
Made from 2 star droppers with bits of 4mm thick angle welded in 5 spots, it uses the gears off a 12 speed mountain bike we bought from a garage sale for $10, and that is turned by a Datsun 180B wiper motor with a 2 amp fuse in it we then stuck a bit of galv plate near the motor to shield it from heat.
It has a boned out pork forquarter on it that has been wrapped completely with the skin to get 360 degree crackling!...it works a treat and never even made the battery disconnect on the car it was running on after 3 1/2 hrs, we even put a 21kg full lamb on it and it still turnd with no drama's...its a trooper!
far away pic,
and close up pic,
Hope ya liked,
Steve.
Yep.... Very much indeed.
Thanks for the post.

Nice work there lads!
I spent a few years up in the North of PNG and the locals had a different spin on things for the whole spit setup.
We used to kill a small pig and do a spit at least once a month and had a great time.
The guys had a 4m length of 25mm water pipe with a cap on one end and a Toyota Steering wheel on the other. We would build a good fire, spread it out about a metre and then a Y at each end. The water pipe would be loaded up with the meat and spanned the fire supported by the Y pieces.
one of the kids would sit there and turn the wheel The kids would take turns and it always came out a treat. I dont have a pic damn it.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
