I feel so sorry for the family. Such a simple to do with such dire results. I have already educated my sons in regard to these types of dangers. It scares me how unaware they can be. I personally saw a friend have both of his legs turned backwards standing in the bite of a winch cable. He was lucky not to be cut in half. There are so many things that can go wrong. One needs to assume something can go wrong rather than believe it can't happen to them. The more discussion and awareness of these dangers the better. It might just save some ones life and in fact probably will.

Sorry to hear about another death, not the greatest way to end an outing.. My thoughts out to the family and hopefully people get the msg soon as to how unsafe it is to snatch from a tow ball

I agree with having appropriate warning labels and any who don't read them are soon out of the equation anyway is seems...sad, very sad. Do people actually learn from others mistakes, or do they have to make their own? Unfortunately, not all mistakes give you a chance....

So unfortunate to see such a good intentioned happening go so wrong.
It's like anything really, and with us in the marine rescue system, it is like towing another vessel and that tow rope being under extreme pressure. Unfortunatly we have to do it from a timber post and that post is the only thing that will help save a lashing if the rope snaps.
Education is the best method, and that could be done, right fom the point of sale of a new vehicle, to licence testing and the like.
Things like this will always happen, it's human nature, but we can lower the happens with education.
Hopefully people reading in this forum have learnt as well, so there is 1 outlet for info and probably has already saved a life or injury and we wouldn't even know.

    Cheers
    Rick

Just thinking, anyone here who works around a lot of 4wd's could start a new thread. Mainly posting pictures of proper recovery points and points not to be used (like the u bolt on the back of gq's.) I know it's a patrol forum but we all have mates with different trucks. I'm pretty sure not everyone on here would know how to properly recover a 4wd. A little education here and there. Even if one life is saved it's weorth it.
