Shocker rod protection from stones and accumulated mud

What have people done to protect the chrome shocker rod that is unprotected?

I have new OME BP51's and they come with this mental wobbly plastic stone deflector that is difficult to install and wont even stay on in the garage with the vehicle stationary. I bought some of the corrugated rubber sleeves however getting them to fit at rod end and shocker body was not possible - diameters too different. I was recommended to look at the velcro foam trail bike fork protectors, maybe the concept would work but diameters are wrong again.

My Amadas cam with the corrugated covers that have a Grove at the base of the shock and big enough to go around the body of the shock at the top. I have fitted them and used zip ties to hold the top in but they are hopeless, every time I go out the top let's go and they end up just full of mud and water, pointless. So what i have recently done is embraced the failure and disconnected the bottom of the cover and clamped the top only around the body of the shock and left the bottom open and hanging free. This should provide impact protection and also let it drain. I will let you know how it goes. Lol

Thanks that what I am thinking of doing also, as the ARD units clamp on the bottom of the shocker knuckle and a moth would dislodge them if they could stand up long enough by themselves before falling off. I will measue ur something and post pics when done.
