    what's a turbo worth?

I've been hearing a tinny rattling sound from the turbo area under boost for the last 3000kms and just cottoned on that it might be the turbo.

Hypothetically, which direction should I go if a replacement is required? Is the OEM repairable? It's a CRD with 219,000kms & Garret GT2052V turbo.

I've heard aftermarket (UFI) can be good for handling higher boost, currently running 18.5psi. Went to their website and can only find an OEM replacement.

Is CCT a brand worth looking at?

Take off the air inlet to the turbo and see if there’s play with the shaft first just to confirm that’s it turbo.

There shouldn’t be any play at all.

    Turbo nuffy here sorry Bro
Thought that exhaust pressure applied was what took the ‘slop-slack’ out of turbines to properly seal. Remember test scenarios applying light air (psi) to mimic/gauge specific reasonable brands shaft shift

    Talk about Karma
My new turbo bolted to its freshly strengthened/rebuilt TD42 has just started squealing up the snorkel too PF Mate.
I won’t mention brands yet as they’re honourably coming to the party but thought I’d explain above a little better.
I believe the in/out/forward/backwards movement of the turbine shaft does have a slight allowance/tollerance for shift that can be tested on a work bench.
When the turbine shaft is not properly centralised for whatever flogged out reason the turbo housing/casting gets clipped on rotation/spinning causing certainly my squealing issue very possibly yours too mate.

What do you notice on this picture, specifically MB? Nothing seem to be scratching/interfering to my nuffy self.

A Woeful iphoney picture agreed BZ Mate although wasn’t worth photographing my Milwaukee 12v inspection camera/screen clarity
It is clipping its casting and has shiny witness marks towards the center. All under control and have decided to park old mate up instead of throwing vanes through its NEW beautiful guts
