RIP - valued member and true gentleman of this forum that will be missed by many!
80 channel radios - chain store Oricom for $200?
Anyone done any research on 88 ch UHFs yet?
I'm going to speak to Kyle Comms about getting my ICom IC40s upgraded, but saw one of the largeish chain stores had a vehicle mount for $200.
Same crowd also has another with remote head for $300
The opposition had a 12000lb 6.6 hp winch with 28m of 9.8mm dynema for $525...... ama2ing, I think I paid almost that much for my flying bomb brand hand winch years ago. The power of China and a strong Aussie dollar

I think so. Yopu cant use all chanels for communicating some are designated repeater channels and some for emergency.
Here is a breakdown of the frequency range and what each cannel is for.

Nah mate,
You can 'communicate' on all 80 however 5 channels (2 active and 3 reserved) are allocated for 'data only' so no voice but the other 75 are all voice Comms.
Some of the Repeater Channels will take a while to sort out due to the complexity and cost of upgrading the Repeaters but you can use simplex on those channels if there is no Repeater anyway.
Dolphins are so smart that within a few weeks of captivity, they can train people to stand on the very edge of the pool and throw them fish.
