4 Days at Enochs Point East VHC - Photo dump

So last Friday to Monday I had the privilege of spending those days with some mates at Enochs Point. I think not many would have heard of this place, I hadn't until myself, Nic aka Rusty_nail, John aka Jaysee and Mick aka Megomonster went there on a whim about six months ago on a camping trip.

For those who don't know where this is, its south of Lake Eildon some 25 minutes down the Big River Road from the Eildon-Jameson Rd. Or via the other end of the Big River Rd from Marysville, which is about 50 minutes.

This place is different, upon arriving my first thoughts was the kid in the 70's movie Deliverance playing a banjo on a porch. lol. Hand built houses and huts everywhere, nestled on thew banks of the mighty big river. What a beautiful place.

Enoch Falls last weekend. A bit more water.IMG_7204.JPGIMG_7205.JPGIMG_7206.JPGIMG_7207.JPG

The Big River. Beautiful place for trout fishing. I tried my luck on lures, tried using my fly rod but the tennis elbow had other ideas, so I stuck with lures. Unfortunately the river was flowing way to hard and the trout just had too much food to choose from and weren't hungry. Next time...

BTW, the river pics are from my first time there, this time there was a LOT more water

A little about the place, not that I know much, theres little info on the net about this place, but some cool pics I took from photos on the walls in one of the cabins we stayed in.

Enochs Point is an old historic gold rush township,
located in bushland 47 km from Eildon in the Big
River State Forest. It was named after the illiterate
prospector 'Enoch', who lived in the area around
1855. It is likely he was the first to discover gold in
the area, though it is he never made a claim due to
his inability to read or write

So this is the place we stayed at for four days. Privately owned. So cool this place is. The main hut consisted of two separate sleeping quarters, both could sleep 4, both had their own open fireplaces, then another two separate huts which could sleep four also.

    IMG_7191.JPGIMG_2192.JPG

This was one room off the main hut.
    IMG_7175.JPGIMG_7174.JPG
This was my room, which had a lounge room/ kitchenette, walk through pantry and then my room down the back.
    IMG_7193.JPGIMG_7192.JPGIMG_7173.JPGIMG_7172.JPGIMG_7171.JPG

Where we cooked and ate was right in the middle of the two main huts, we had a pizza oven which we cooked pizza's (of course), two lamb roasts with roast veggies, best roast i have ever had by the way, home made sausage rolls, pastitsi's, and even a cake was baked in it. We ate like kings the entire weekend as two of the guys who came up did nothing but make food and sat by the pizza oven cooking. Was pretty cool to have a constant flow of fresh hot food. Haha! I feel kinda fat now though.

Just a few pics of Donald Track on the way to Mt.Terrible. The views on this track were epic.

    Last of all.

Their stash of wine bottles. You can tell this place has been here for a very long time...

Seems like a great place to spend some time with friends. Nothing can beat travelling with people whose hobby is cooking!

Just didn't like the bottle pile. Gives me a bad impression.
