Nissan PTO gearbox lubrication source
Can anyone confirm the lubrication for the actual PTO gearbox on the side of the standard TD42 box receives lubrication oil from the main gearbox as I cant recall seeing a fill point? There appears to be a little sump in the casing however I am thinking this may fill from carry over of the gears when they mesh with the main gearbox gogs. None of my manuals, Gregory, Haines or Nissan mentions this - or at least I cant find the reference. Thanks

From memory, even though they're high up, their fill level is supplied by the main box. I'll jump under shortly and have a look.

I also think this is the case, just chasing down an issue that has arisen. I think the problem I have with selection between forward and reverse is cable jacket lubrication however I initially feared it might be from a poorly lubricated gearset. Anyway, pls advise what you find, I am going to lub up the cable assy tomorrow and see if it improves. Thanks for the effort, greatly appreciated
