    285/75/16 on standard alloys

Hi there, next mod for me is the 50mm lift and 33in tyres, looking at the cooper STTs as here in the UK there is not too much choice in this size. Other models available are either super aggressive or ATs. Anyway main concern is whether a tyre of this volume will go straight onto my original alloys (2001) without looking like balloons and feeling really unstable on the road? All advice gratefully received.

If your alloys are 16x8 then 285/75/16 is a perfect match and will not look out of proportion. Very stable on the road.

Just had a quick measure of the wheels, got 16x9.5 (possibly10?) so will have no issues at all if 16x8 will take them.
Although I do most miles on road in the wet uk winters I need to be in and out of steep fields and gardens often towing a 1ton woodchipper, had a Terrano previously with ATs but they were useless on wet slippy grass so wanted something a little more aggressive but still good for the road. I hear you guys on about Mickey Thompsons - they are'nt on the market over here, BFG MTs may be an option but costly..
    Cheers

Most factory Patrol 16" alloys were 16x8, are you able to post a photo of the wheels?

Unless they are measured outside to outside of rims Tony, then they read inaccurately. Most people don't realize to measure inside beads.

It's rated size will be 16x8. As Tim said the width is measured on the inside of the beads.
