2000 GU rear bumper taillight/indicator unit removal..

Hi all, just wondering if anyone out there has removed the tail light/indicator units from the rear bumper of an early GU wagon? I need to replace both sides on mine and cant find it referred to in my Ellery's or the factory manual...
Are they fixed from behind the bumper?

The tail lights should come out by removing the two screws on either side of the light.
The plastic bumper components are fixed to the metal brackets that house the tail lights.
(Ignore the red, this was for parts I'm selling)
I have tail lights from an 04 GU III if you need them?

Thanks for that mate. It's my understanding that any series GU taillights will fit, it's just the surround/insert that varies between them? I have a pair lined-up, but if that falls through.....I do need the plastic bumper surround/insert(driver side) they fit into if you have one though?

I don't, sorry. I sold both passenger and drivers plastic bumper/tail light surrounds, but I still have the tail lights and everything else circled in that diagram above.

No worries mate, I seem to be after some pretty hard to get parts unfortunately. For example I'm struggling to find used(OEM) flares to replace the few broken ones I have, also i thought about replacing my rear bumper but finding an undamaged bumper for one seems to be a bit of a challenge. It seems strange that a car that was so popular could be so hard to source used parts for, and most of the ones I still see have been modded.......so where did all their original parts go-did they get broken like mine? Hahaha, oh well the hunt continues

You could try contacting Niss4x4. They have wrecking yards all around Australia and they specialise in Nissan 4x4s as the name suggests.
    https://niss4x4.com.au/
If you look at the stock of cars on their website, the majority have been in multi or single vehicle accidents and have damaged parts.
They will definitely have factory flares and rear bumper parts they could pull from one or more vehicles.
Keep in mind that the bumper parts changed look in later GU II or III models. Early GU models have pin stripe indentations and later don't (I believe from what I've seen photos of).

Great, that's useful information I appreciate it. My 2000 fits into the earlier GU II category then as it has the pin stripes, will check them out. The challenge may only be the tail light surrounds hopefully then, they are like unicorns.....
