91 DA Maverick 4.2 Diesel Turbo LWB 5 speed

    Hi All

What do you think its worth? I genuinely have no idea so Ive come to ask the experts.

    225000 km
Cooper STT tires at about 70-80%
    Snorkel
Aftermarket turbo (size unknown) with Subaru top mount water to air intercooler. Currently no boost gauge but was running 4ish to 6ish pounds from memory

I've had it for about 13 years and it's done maybe...I dunno exactly, maybe 5 thousand km in that time.

It has the hand throttle knob and a handle that releases the rear sway bar.

The previous owner was a mechanic he installed the turbo and IC. I think he also said something about refreshing some internals but precisely what I cant remember.

Always been parked under cover since I've had it.

Its got a little bit of rust around the windscreen on the drivers side, and another bit along the roof towards the back. Nothing that someone who knows what they are doing couldn't easily sort in a few hours.

The Interior is well-used, but not scrappy.

I snapped a few pix the other night after giving it a quick wash. Not the best pictures, but enough I hope to give you an idea of the condition.

Yeh, so I'm curious as to what you reckon its worth.

    thx

    Pete

Thx PeeBee. Didnt work in Chrome, but worked in FireFox. Those pix sure did look better phone sized. Crappy as, but you get the idea.

It would depend a lot where in the world you are...
Don't you have an ebay/ craiglist/ trademe/ marketplace where you can see what things are selling for?

Most things are worth somewhere in between "what the seller wants to get for it" and "what the buyer wants to pay for it"

Down here, a running TD42 is worth $4-6k...if it's wrapped in a safari then even better.
If it's up to date on maintenance, 8-12k. If it's "mint" anything up to 30k.

Personally, an "unknown" turbo (and tune?);.electric windows; and low roof are all turn-offs for me... but to the right buyer could be just the thing.

And sorry, but it's NEVER "a little bit" of rust around the gutters

    Hey mihit

Im in Victoria. Yeh Ive had a look around on the for sale sites. And as you say it can be really variable between vehicles with very similar specs. That's why I came to the experts :-)

Def up to date on maintenance. As for the tune. It doesn't have a computer or anything, all I know is what the boost gauge said which was 4-6psi. Maybe a pound or two higher.

Its in good nick for its age that's for sure. I was thinking maybe 12k-14k based on what Ive seen. Just wanted to talk to the experts first and maybe get a bite here. I'd rather it go to an enthusiast

    thx

    Erg

Go around shopping for one instead of just looking online. See in person the state of the ones people are asking the same money you are planning to ask. Are they better then yours? Then you probably need to be prepared to let it go for less. Are they totally trash? Then when someone tries to bump your price down, stand for it. It is always good to have for real the knowledge to sustain an "have you seen what type of trash people are selling out there?" argument.

Thx BrazilianY60. Some good thoughts and advice in your comment. As far as checking out a range of vehicles in person. I live in a town of 2500 people. 4 hours away from the nearest Capital city. So unfortunately my options for checking stuff out in person are somewhat limited. Same issues are probably gonna make it a bit harder to find a buyer. They can't just pop over on Saturday morning and take look.
