Never have, but you will attract import taxes and duties if the invoice value is over $1000. As for emission standards I don't think this is checked.

What country were they from on Alibaba?
@MB and I did some research ages ago and I can’t remember why but ones out of china couldn’t be used or just too hard to convert.

Mb do you remember what the issue was?

I bought a Jap import motor years ago, it was already here in Oz, there were wreckers who specialised in importing used low mileage ones. It was a nothing special stock Toyota Crown motor I put int a two door Corona Coupe. Lasted me for many years & then my son had it for a while as a bush basher. Was ultra reliable.

Also got a similar ED33 Nissan motor (3.3 litre 4 cyl diesel) to replace the one we had in our bus.

If buying a low mileage import motor it may have been sitting on a shelf in this country for a long time, so expect a few external gaskets to have become a bit crumbly. Eg. Exhaust manifold.

Each came with a warranty one 3 months, the other 6 months.
