NO power ,no tacho ??
Hi, GU patrol, ZD30 Problem started whith car going into "limp" mode, foot of the gas, back on ,back to normal. Happened once or twice, seemed like nothing to worry about. Till yesterday while towing a car trailer, suddenly ,limp mode, take off at the lights, cant get past 20km untill I take my foot of for an instant and it changed gears and slowly, slowly accelerated. I also noted that the tacho was not working. Stopped the car turned it off and restarted, all was normal for a couple of ks then back to limp mode and no tacho again. It waas a long trip home. While stuggleing in limp mode the EGT were up 50 from normal driving [but i did have a trailer on ] boost was sitting on 10 to 12 psi. any ideas please.
Thanks Dave

Legendary
I had a similar situation a while ago when returning from Mount Augustus to home. I never identified the exact cause but suspect a loos hose clamp on the intercooler to turbo hose. The fix was to check and tighten all hoses, changed fuel and air filters and cleaned MAF. I didn’t have issues with tachometer though. I’m not sure if this input helps or just confuses it even more.

Starts out fine, but once up to temp its just a matter of time and it goes into limp mode, engine light comes on and the tacho is dead. If it sits turned off till it cools, all is good again , full power tacho working and no engine light.
Checked codes 72, , 4 7, 9 5 . cleaned sensor on air intake, 72 and 47 seem to relate to crank pos. sensor , checked resistance, seems ok 1384

Not sure the setup on ZD but "borked when hot" typically points to ignition coils failing. (If present?)
Of course if you throw an auto box and computers and sensors into the mix... it gets blurry.
