Silly short while testing sensors, please help.

    Hi 2004 ZD30 Patrol
I was testing crank pos. sensor at the connection point , top front of engine male plug goes to sensor , female plug goes to engine control??
Tested sensor, ok, then thought I will test supplied voltage etc. at female plug.
Inserted some short bits of wire so it was easy to make contact.

Then in my clumsiness I shorted 12v supply to the signal return, heard a few relays clicking then nothing. No more 12v supply, checked fuses,, what damage might I have done. ???
    Thanks

More than likely a fuse or a relay. Thats pretty much all you can do. Fuses are in place for this kind or reason. So if they are all good I would only assume a relay is dead. Most of the Nissan relays can be switched around for another known working one. You just need to find which relay...

Not sure if they're present on the ZDs but have you checked not just fuses but the -fusible links-? Like fuses, but bigger and normally a half dozen of them in a box by one of the batteries/engine bay

Also, parrot clips and skinny and/or sharp multimeter probes prevent this kind of shenannigan

I can understand the reason to check fuses ect on the 12v feed.
I am hoping I did not cause damage by supplying 12v to signal wire which i think opperats on 5v, going back to eng. management.

    Thanks

    Did some more testing
Tested all fuses with multi meter touching the little bare spots on the back which allows testing without removing the fuses , found with ignition turned on I had 12.4 volts on every one [testing both sides ] EXEPT fuse # 26 listed as start signal 7.5 amps. Removed the fuse and tested bothside where the fuse plugs into. No voltage on either side. ??
anyone knows where its fed from ?
    Thanks

If you look at your post, there will be an "Edit Post" option at the lower right (on a PC at least).
