D22 rear wheel bearing endplay
Hi, helping my son replace rear wheel bearings on his 2006 D22 . We did everything, " I think correctly "
Fitted new outer cone all the way "sound changed"
Inserted axle and stood upright
Slide the chamfered spacer, chamfer down onto the axle
Drifted home the inner bearing until firm and sound changed
fitted washers and tightened nut up and locked.
Problem ,,, there is obvious end play in the bearing, half a mm or so
stripped rechecked reassembled,,,, the same.
Also checked width of old bearings compared to new , the same.
Help please.

Thinking of removing the spacer and tapping and tightening nut until I just get a little preload. ????

Think I solved our problem,, each side on its own has endplay but when reassembled the ends of the axles touch each other, which transfers load from one side to the other and eliminates endplay.
Hope im right

Patrol God
Seems like a wrong forum mate. But glad to read you worked it out.
D22 was my first off roader.
And I don't miss those cold war era front torsion tank spec setup one bit !
