    What is your best modification/accessory?

Be tough on yourself, pick just one, the one you love the most. Say how or what you use you car for to place your favourite mod or accessory into context.

Eg My car is set up for long term remote area touring. It is relatively heavy & to save damage from 'going hard to get through difficult terrain I got an e-locker in the front diff. It has suited my purpose perfectly. I love it. More often than not I flick it on 'just in case', but now & then it's obvious it's needed. Eg towing going south to north of the Old Coach Road, Cape York. It felt like a bit of a 'luxury' when I was paying for it, but it puts a smile on my face every time I use it.

2006 4.2TDi ex-Telstra Remote area Camper. 425w roof mounted solar, 360Ah Aux batts, BCDC1240, Onboard hot & cold pressurised & filtered water, (25 litre hot water calorifier), ARB fridge, ARB freezer, Built in kitchen, heaps of easy access storage, 240v, 3” Genie exhaust + dynotune, 2” lift, 3900kg GVM upgrade, second glovebox, ROH Blaktrak steel wheels, Bridgestone D697's (now Toyo RT's), Redarc gauges/pillarpod, Hema HX-1, Icom 450 CB, dual rear view cameras, Onboard 30amp Victron mains charger, second glovebox, dual seat conversion, TPMS, Boss PX7 onboard air with 9 litre tank, 350w inverter, Steel bullbar, Harrop Eaton diff lock (front), Warn winch, Snorkel, Dual spares , 160 litre water tank, 180 litre fuel in two tanks (approx 1200km range) 2010 Tvan Tanami. The winch has been an absolute winner. Being on a farmlet, it has proved useful for shifting trailers, logs and other assorted gear.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

The missus, best accessory I ever put in the vehicle.
Did most of the cooking, made sure the beer was cold.

But most of all told me when, where , what and how to do it.

    Shit I miss her.

I’d have to say my tow bar, without it I wouldn’t have been to most places I’ve visited.

To me, best thing was lockers. My trail rig being a Samurai, I have started with a rear LockRight automatic locker (lunchbox locker) and used that maybe for some 10 years. Then I moved to a Detroit locker (flat teeth) on the rear and a Kaiser locker on the front. Totally hated the flat teeth locker, so took that off and moved the Kaiser to the rear end. The Kaiser is a full diff carrier replacement (in contrast to the lunchbox) and worked as smooth as it can be. I think I ran the Kaiser for some 2 or 3 years. Then, on a flash promotion and maybe some mid age crisis, I decided to bite the bullet and put (a lot of) money on my dream locker of all times, the ARB. I ended up buying two at a time plus the compressor that can fill tires with the tire kit. I've been running this for the last 5 or 6 years.

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.
