ZD30 Patrol Auto starting in second

Hey guys, joined here as I thought this would be the best place to ask, so many people cant seem to put there finger on the issue

I have an auto ZD30 patrol and when in 2WD it wants to start in second gear, it wont select first at all, have been under the car checked selectors cable etc and it all looks fine, how ever what really stumped me is when i engage 4x4 - it will select first gear.

Thought this maybe caused due to limp mode but have scanned it, and there is no codes

Any one have any ideas on what it could be / we should check?

Welcome to the forum. It only sounds like a control problem and hopefully not a rebuild. Being able to start in first, albeit in 4wd is good. Try downloading the manuals on this forum. There is good info on diagnostics available. Fingers crossed a ZD30 Guru can be of help.
My advice is: not to follow my advice.

Autos are very specialised critters. Only an auto expert will be able to diagnose problems correctly. Don't waste your money anywhere else (from experience).
