    Glow Plugs?

    2013 GU CRD.

Getting harder to start on cold mornings. I usually have to give it 2 blasts of the glow plugs before she'll start. 195,000ks, original glow plugs. I hear the relay click when off when the dash light goes off.

What is the resistance I should I see when measuring the resistance with the plugs in place? I read 0.5 ohms, is that correct?

I've also read that the steel tipped glow plugs can cause issues if you don't perform a 'timer mod' is that still the case?

I've also read that there are carbon and steel tipped plugs, which of these are better? I was going to get OEM plugs.

    Thanks for any help.

If the ones you have now worked for nearly 200,000 km why would you want anything different?

Also check the fuel lines around the fuel filter, that can contribute to a hard start, some of mine got hard and cracked. If you replace them use "nitrile rubber" type.

You can test your plugs by cleaning them, putting them back in, doing a cold start, pull them out and replace the ones that are covered in soot.
