Not sure where the idea that a leaf diff has coil mounts as that is not correct, they are totally different.
These diffs are a bit bigger than a coil from what I understand the GVM is greater with leaves. They also have drum brakes.
The coil diff has disc brakes.
What you need to know is if it fits in the mounting points in a GQ, if the drive shaft is going to fit and the ratio is the same as you took out.
They are supposed to be the strongest diff available, a couple of guys in our club have tough trucks and these are the diff of choice in that competition.
    Good luck mate

(and yes I know, I should ask the seller, but again I like asking questions)
No the mounts would be totally different and the leaf mounts would have to be removed and coil mounts welded in place. The only a silly question is the unasked one mate

Sweet I'm starting to understand this a bit so Macca the explanation of the differences between leaf and coil was cool, leaf gives you more weight capacity for loads so thats why the utes have them and say the 4 door wagon GQ patrol is coil. And now I also understand why the axle out of a coil sprung diff is no good to my leaf sprung diff, it's to short (and ratio of diff may be different so guessing could have more or less teeth on drive end. One thing I'm getting confused about though Growler79 if my GQ already has leaf sprung diff and I'm just replacing with leaf sprung diff I shouldn't have to worry about coils right, cause you either have leaf or coil. (lol I don't think I've used the word leaf this much ever )

Correct mate a leaf sprung diff from a GQ ute should bolt straight upto your GQ ute

    Thats right
OP,Save the brain strain on yourself
Get the part/parts that are correct to the car
leaf spring diff, get a leaf spring diff
As i mentioned they are around and cheapish as minimal demand

Now IF your a touch "Green" on the subject youll have endless trouble swapping stuff from other models
Diff ratios are different , depending on motor, model , ect

Throw a wanted add in the classifieds on this , and perhaps other forums
    Youll find what your chasin
