I never was able to see Rod Marsh play, but Warnie was The King while I was growing up with cricket. Summers were spent watching him take wickets, smash darts, sink piss and slay questionable pussy.
Have a watch of the documentary on him that was only released a few weeks ago on Amazon Prime
The greatest cricketer I have seen.

Couldn't think of two more quintessentially Aussie blokes.
Straight up, unpretencious, tenacious, tough, generous and real. Both of them.
Rod Marsh was a sporting idol of mine as a kid. The absolute essence of tough to me.
Warnie was just a freak. Can a slow bowler be a cricket superstar? Pfft you must be joking (pre Gatting Ball). Next second: Cricket, please welcome your new superstar, wizard, genius and maestro. Here to inspire and bewilder millions of kids and adults for years to come.
Both gone within 24 hours. Fair dinkum please don't let Boonie or Bill Lawry make headlines tomorrow or I might just lose my shit.

Yeah I also grew up watching the likes of Marsh absolute legend status right there. Then when spin was just about gone and forgotten, here comes this young blonde larikin with a fag in his mouth called Shane Warne, and showed the world that spin is NOT gone and is an art.

They will both be surely missed.

I was fortunate enough to see Marsh play live at Adelaide oval along with Greg Chappel, Lillie and Border. Lillie and Marsh made a formidable wicket taking duo. To have Marsh and Warnie taken within 24 hrs is such a big loss.
