    MQ /MK differences

    Thought id start this to help those a bit new on the scene
    Ill keep adding as differences are found, or add your own if you know any

    Headlights
    MQ - Roundheadlight
    MK - Rectangle headlight

    Grills
    MQ - Round headlight
    MK - Rectangle headlight

    Taillights/Lenses

    From top to bottom

    MQ
    Indicator-Amber
    Brake-Red
    Reverse-Clear

    MK
    Brake-Red
    Brake-Red
    Reverse-Clear
    (With a seperate indicator in the rear bumper)

    Steering wheel
    MQ
    2 Spoke
    MK
    3 Spoke
    Although some povo pack/MK utes have the MQ style 2 spoke wheels

    Radio pod
    MQ
    Flat removable , top of dash mounted radio pod,with a small compartment beside radio
    MK
    Tapered removable , top of dash mounted radio pod with a clock on the passenger side of radio

    Motor
    MQ SD33 N/A
    24 Volt diesel with factory left and right engine bay mounted battery trays
    MK SD33 N/A and TURBO
    12 Volt diesel battery mounted on passenger side of engine bay

    wheel arch flares are fiberglass except Luxury model MK which had steel wheel arch flares.

    Luxury MK had suspenion ride seats.

    There was only the steel flares from factory,on the Deluxe version
    Glass flares are aftermarket
    There are the "Wide wheel pack" Fibreglass flares, these bolt threw the side of the guards

    MQ/MK Stone tray/valance tray
    (Bit under grill)

    MQ
    4 Symetric holes between indicators,same size as indicator lense holes

    MK
    6 Symetric slots (3 lots of 2) between indicators,different size as indicator holes

    MQ /MK
    Inner guard supports
    MQ
    Dont have any extra bracing behind front guards
    MK
    Do have extra bracing behind front guards
    (This bracing goes from under the windscreen pillar and runs the length of the inner guard ,in a forward direction

    Front shackle bolts were larger diameter on MK

    i think one of them has straight shackles and one has stepped out ones (wider on the top, narrower on the spring).....if that makes sense? Is this right MQMAD?

    MK petrol can have a 5 speed box from the factory.
    MQ petrol 4 speed only.

    I have a 4spd mk l28 it was the last 4spd built before the switch too 5spds. Only about 4 months between the last 4spd and a 5spd upgrade on the mk, can get a little confusing.

    Transfer cases are different between L28/P40/SD33.
    Tail shafts are different depending whether LWB/SWB/type of transfer
    Diff ratios anybody?
