TD42T timming cover and backing/sandwich plate replacement
Hi all I am new to this site, i have recently purchased an ex ambulance 2000 Nissan Patrol Gu TD42T.
I found coolant and oil leaks behind the timming cover and the backing/sandwich plate behind that. I have to replace both of these due to rust on the sandwich plate and severe pitting on the timming cover where the water pump bolts on.
Common issues from what read, all good so far pulled parts off, new parts ready to fit but i am finding conflicting ideas on what sealant to use when refitting these parts with new gaskets and orings, so if anyone can point me in the right direction on the correct way to fit the new parts to ensure longevity, as i have read where some people have had to do this job twice (mechanic shop included).
Any help would be greatly appreciated

.........
G’day @PeteM Mate,
I am not a mechanic but do carry this goo out there always:

Have only ever used it personally on various engines water/coolant areas with great success but I think it can handle more?

I used high temp copper RTV when I did my sandwich plate.
