    Penrite 15w-50 in a TD ?

So I won a bit of a Penrite oil pack. They asked me what car / engine etc ...
It all arrived and the motor oil is 15 50 . Checked their lube guide for the TD and it's correct.
    Every other brand is 15 40 .
Anybody used this in their TD before ?
Free oil is free oil , and I know Penrite is highly regarded, but thought I'd ask for thoughts.

The 15 is a cold temp weight, and the later number is warm temp weigh. In a nutshell.

So in your case the oil will hold a slightly higher viscosity at warmer temps than what the 40 will, i.e in summer. What you may notice, is slightly higher oil pressure, if you notice it... I'm thinking of switching to this for the summer to see what its like in my TD. My engine runs a bit hotter than usual so this may be a good option for me.

It's what I have always used in my TD42 - normally change every 5000kms, but because it is semi synthetic, a couple of times when we have been in places where an oil change was difficult, I have felt quite happy to delay the change for an extra 2000 or 3000kms. Not something I'll make a habit of, but not something I would feel comfortable with doing if using a 'lesser' oil.

    Thanks for the feedback folks.
And Cuppa I do my oil and filters religiously every 5k on the dot as well.
I might give it a run.

@Hodge Whilst you're at it you may be interested in these oil filters. I just bought 4 & the delivered cost worked out to be $13.90 each. Donaldson filters suitable for TD42's which have two filters the same. Equivalent to Ryco 503's. I wont run any of the el cheapo crap filters, but am happy to use Donaldson. These are the cheapest I have ever paid for filters for the Patrol.

You've inspired me Eric to get off my arse and order a 20L of HPRD 15 oil and some Donaldson filter through work and do a service. Even though I haven't even done 2000k in the last 12 months. Lol

Check the wheel bearings and give them a good whack of grease. I've just learned the hard way that wheel bearings do no like sitting around for so long without being spun for a bit.

Haha. I'll service mine this weekend.
My Penrite kit was a free prize thankfully.
But holy shit looking at the prices it's not cheap.
10L for $90- ish for the 15w50 HPR diesel. 20L Of RX can be had for $120.
