Help 1990 gq 4.2 petrol oil leaking at rear TOP gearbox

    I'm lost
Checked the rocker gasket at rear ...dry
Checked the cylinder head ar rear ...mmm seems dry with mirror view and hand ..
Top of Bell housing and running down both sides oil ...
    What's going on ? Any ideas ?
The bottom I'd get but the top And it's awkward being the back of engine and front of gearbox to really see ...unless someone's been there done that .......

But at the top of gearbox box ..I'm still leaning toward the head gasket but are there any oil galleries at the back of the engine to cause this ...it's quite a good bit of oil

My GQ is diesel so I don't know about your engine layout, but any chance the distributor is around an offending area with regards to the oil spill? I have a petrol Suzuki Samurai where the distributor is driven by the back part of the head, so leaks on that area are 99% of the times due to an o'ring that seals the distributor axle.

Can’t unfortunately help LB Mate with diagnosis but an old trick for hopefully finding sneaky oil trail origin leaks:
Wash/degrease the suspected areas and thoroughly dry, run the engine/box/pump etc, then use the likes of a talcum powder hygroscopic puff puff bottle to track down the sneaky snail trail hopefully left after a blower off of the dry dust

OK so found where it's at the back of number 6 and it's between cylinder head and block ..it's definitely oil ...so question because it's oil will this be able to be temporarily fixed with gasket stops leak in the coolent or will this not reach as oil or cracked head ? Any good mechanic in Rockingham wa who knows tb42 engines to help ?
