    Last minute High Country trip.

Settle Petals, if it wasn’t for Uncle Daz Legend we’d still be running 2.5hp High Mounts with 2 x Snatch Blocks weighing our back pockets down

I will buy a pair, put them both in and keep the used passenger side one as a spare.

What caused that huge chunk out of the stub flange Chris? That is a very short life, any indication of what else caused this? That grease looks very gritty and contaminated? Bloody mess and a pain to resolve. Sorry to be seeing this.

They are GU diffs and that piece out of the flange is to allow for the ABS sensor which I don't have connected.
I'm not sure what caused the failure. There was a small amount of water inside, we had done a lot of river crossings. The inner axle seal was broken but that must have happened due to the shrapnel inside. Perhaps it just seized due to lack of use? The car had sat in the shed for a long time before this trip. The grease is mostly black, it had obviously gotten very hot right at the end.
I was a little sus on the bearings all day on the Sunday as I heard a few noises and notice the hub was hotter than usual, I kept check of it all day and it had come good. I checked again as we aired up in Licola and it felt good, was driving fine. We were probably less than 10km out of Licola when it failed completely.

Plenty of worse things could happen I suppose. I'm not too upset about it, I am getting good at doing swivel hubs now. We give these vehicles an absolute punishing so something has got to give.
I have learnt a lesson in keeping a set of wheel bearings as spares though, it would have saved a tow.

I did park in a creek for a while waiting for the slower folk to catch up cos it looked cool, in hindsight it wasn't my brightest idea. Even thought to myself how cool it looked with the water flowing through the holes in the wheels.

Haha guess the cats out of the bag now regarding the big ol GU.

Was hoping to just roll into Licola beside daz in the y62 for some puzzled looks but that didn't happen then the story just got to far gone haha.

Had a ball on this trip. I literally made the decision to go at 12 on the Friday. Rang jonno and asked if he wanted to be winch bitch and off we went.

Here's to a ton more. I loved almost every minute. Need to bring it the cut and polish soon though.... Lol

I only really took a couple photos. These are parked at the bottom of Barkly River jeep track.

Thanked jonno for the vids. Bloody awesome
