Rd28 98 gu pos
Okay my mate has bought an RD28 gu has dreaded overheating issue.
Drive about 1km and cooks. top rad hose is really hot whilst bottom rad hose cold almost like stone. And dash says she's gonna blow!
Things that have been done
Reset timing (had it apart thought bugger it and replaced timing gear because being a bigger slug than normal)
New waterpump
New thermostat
New oem radiator
Complete shroud
New hub and fan
Compression test - normal
Leakdown test - top end is 100% Mickey mouse
After all this decided to pull a commodore trick and gut the thermostat and put the hat back in but no change in the cooking issue
Help please I'm stuffed on ideas. Shy of New temp sender and sensor

Did you burp the system? It could be an airlock.
http://www.nissanpatrol.com.au/forum...-Helpful-Hints Post number 13 deals with that.

the RD block is basically the same as an RB but is cast with a lot more metal to handle the higher compression needed for diesel.
If there is a lot of gunk in the cooling system, it could also be a blocked gallery.

Condition of top radiator hose - not collapsing and blocking flow? Does it have an internal coil or one of the silicone one?
