    Question GQ Patrol TD42 water leak issue

    Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has ever had a water leak from the plate that the fuel pump bolts up to and how big a job to fix ? Joined the forum to seek help.

    Michael, it’s a known issue with older engines. The 2 rubber seals for the water pump passages harden over time and let coolant through.

    I did mine 6 years ago and decided it was much easier to remove the engine to work on it to avoid doing a shoddy job.
    All the front needs to come off, balancer, timing cover, gears and plate, etc and I wasn’t prepared to do all that leaning over a bull bar. Not to mention the hassle on mine of locking the engine to tighten the front pulley with an auto trans..
