    what's the easiest and quickest safe way to empty the petrol tank?

    Mate, you shouldn’t need pics if you take a look. Take the cover off and unscrew around the sender unit and take the lot out.
    It will give you room to get your hands in there to clean if needed.
    When I converted to diesel I syphoned the petrol out and wiped the inside with a clean rag

    There should be a drain plug too on the bottom, but maybe all don't have it. .
