    TD42 introduction from Bondi

    Hi Guys,

Bresoo here I’m new to the forum and this Patrol is my first 4x4. I’ve done a few 4x4 trips, like to Fraser Is. Stradbroke, and Watigins but am basically a beginner. We’re loosely planning a 2-3 month trip up the East Coast of NSW to Qld, towards the end of the year. I’ve recently got into this as I used to camp a lot with my family growing up, and now my 16 old son loves 4x4ing camping and exploring.

    About my Patrol:

    GU Patrol, Y61, yr 2000, TD42, Manual
Engine - its the standard 4.2 which came with the factory turbo, the previous owner replaced it with a Garrett one. No intercooler, airbox etc is all factory standard. Has front and rear air lockers, 2” lift, Warn winch, draw system, roof racks, front and rear ARB bars, spottys etc. dual battery system. It's a great car that goes really well, and super fun to drive.

I was going to ask people what they think is the best bang for buck mods for the engine to get more Kw and fuel economy?
Should I install an intercooler? New bigger airbox?

On my list of things to fix or install are…

Fix central locking, install a Mongoose aftermarket system
New suspension coils, it's sagging a little
Fix 12v dual battery system, install a control board.
An internal water tank or bladder system, I’ve got a good 12v pump.
Install a stainless folding barn door table. I might try my luck at building one.

    Cheers
    Bresoo
