Power loss- tps
Hi guys having dramas with my gu zd30 losing power. Driving down hiway and lost all accelerator back to idle revs limped down road pulled over stopped for a drink and arrange a tow- restarted so I had steering and it wanted to run..
Auto lecy hooked up computer and managed to get it to fault came up with tps fault couldn't get a sensor so replaced entire throttle assembly genuine part out of spec wouldn't run adjusted further out of spec and ran fine nissan won't return my calls regarding this- parked up next time I took it out it faulted again now it's running but at any given time it will just lose power. At first if I took foot off accelerator for 1-2 seconds and re apply it would go again now once it plays up that's it power is gone. Showed a fault for maf sensor but I cleaned that and put back in losing my mind just want it to run..

possibly a boost leak causing this issue. Have you got the original intercooler on the vehicle? is there any oil spots on the intercooler? Particularly on the underside of the cooler. Check all boost hoses for cracks and check all hose clamps. Also check all the vacuum lines right from the vac pump.
What year is the Patrol as well?

Thanks mudski. Its a 2006, original intercooler.
I haven't noticed any oil spots but I'll check underside and boost/vac lines.
It's not showing check engine light but when I bridge the obd socket brings up 4-3 and 4-6 codes if that helps. Sucks being just pre obd2 otherwise I'd go buy myown obd2 computer

Patrol God
Any oil around the IC means its leaking they all do,
Disconnect your battery for 30mins it will reset the computer
IMHO you need a boost guage and an EGT guage so you know whats going
on under the bonnet
04 ST 3lt auto, not enough Mods to keep me happy, but getting there

^^^^^ What John has just said.
Being the original IC I would dare say its leaking, Remove it and look for oil deposits and end pressure test it but sealing off the outlet and inlet, submerge under water and then use a bike pump with the needle bit on it for pumping up balls and poke it in one end and slowly pump away. If you see air bubbles, even a small amount its leaking and needs replacing. If so get an aftermarket one.

Patrol Freak
For 06 ZD30 get yourself ECU Talk (will be a good friend).
https://www.ecutalk.com.au/diesel.aspx
What boost control method are you using (vnt vac sol/ECU or Dawes/Tillix )? or other?
At idle pull vac line off the VNT actuator diaphragm _ what difference in actuator rod do you see?
at idle rod should be all the way up with lever touching vane limit stop grub screw and with hose pulled off the rod should drop right down.
Do a google search for MAF testing and check the MAF signal voltage output (DI has 4 wire MAF harness_ I think).

I couldn't see any oil spots on ic but haven't pressure tested it, boost hoses all looked fine but vac lines were starting to perish so I replaced all of them had battery disconnected for about an hour while I was fiddling I don't have any gauges at this stage. Started up again and took off fine 3rd gear mid revs it lost pick-up took foot of accelerator and reapplied and it started to pick up again?
