Old man had a '73 ZG Fairlane (which I drove as a daily as late as 2003) with a 302 Cleveland 3-speed auto. Thing was a loungeroom on wheels, sang a beautiful song, as comfy as your mummas cuddle and put the foot down it dropped a peg, sang slightly louder and just drank more juice. Not much else.
Recently bought a 2016 Barra powered vehicle as my daily. She aint such a seductive mistress but put your foot down this mumma slaps your arse and says come on big boy lets tango!

Crikey MB , I though I had logged into the wrong forum for a second!.
So continuation CSX 4000 onwards series cars...yes, definitely the go as they have low volume compliance so no engineering issues and hassles that the ICV kit cars have, and if you a USA built one, it is titled of year of engine, not year of build, so if you running a 65 built 727 FE side oiler, then only 1965 ADRs and NVC are applicable for import compliance..and there was not many.

As for the actual question, I love my V8s, bit for this comparison in a 4x4 the Barra 6 pack is the go, less engineering mods and dramas and way more power with less wight, and there are heaps around from 160 odd KW up to close on 200 KW without extra bolt ons, and way better fuel economy.
