Engine wash

Hi. As per my intro. We have a 05 GU.
It has been looked after, serviced , checked over. But under the hood its getting a bit grimey. No mud as this car never saw mud but just accumulated small layer of gunk, oil over the years.
Id like to give it a bit of a wash but im somewhat unsure of what to and what NOT to soak. I understand this motor can cop a bit but would still like to get some advice how to go about this.
I commonly use the snow foam lance and some ct18 on everything else under the car, the body.
Would this work well. What to avoid. Alternate, turbo, battery, fuse box ?

Ct18 is great for a motor wash, and under body, this stuff works really well. Just spray and go for gold mate. these engines are pretty hardy, I've never had an issue with a good wash down on the engine. If theres any oily sections I use CT14. Probably the best degreaser I have ever used.

Can't say I've seen ct14. I'll give the 18 a go. Do you have a IC ? Do you remove it and block air hoses off or just shove a water hose under the IC and go nuts?
These don't have many 12v or sensors but I'm still wondering what to be cautious off.
The car has been faultless id hate to ruin something.

I grabbed a bottle of that ct14 stuff after you told me about it lol... maybe 2-3years ago .
Still haven't cleaned the engine. Some day lol.
Tell you what this stuff will strip a child from its mother . Pretty good stuff. Not sure how it'll go on rubber , hoses etc ... Also keep it away from anything greasble.

So this ct14 is that good?
I have ample ct18 here I'll give that a go. I had a look again and the DWR intercooler will be a mission to take off. So I'll attempt a clean with the IC insitu. Hopefully I'll get under it as best as I can.

Mate just snow foam the whole thing, avoid the fuses... Walk away, come back several stubbies later and light-rinse the lot and watch your driveway turn Black lol. ...
. No pressure washing. Id use that spotless rinse they have at most coin car wash bays...

These things cross rivers no wackers ... A bit of bath won't hurt it.

Yeah CT14, or Shock Treatment, some thing just changed names, is really good for oil and grease cleaning. I remember washing down an old 350 chev motor on an engine stand using CT14 and a brush. No gloves. Big mistake. It had melted, or made the skin on my fingers go soft and droopy and you couldn't see my finger nails. Pretty wicked stuff.
Don't bother with removing the IC, just spray it on using a spray bottle or foaming gun, let it sit for 5 minutes then hose it off.

If the motors it just dirty from dirt, CT18 is brilliant. I use it for the whole underbody and wheel arches. I even mix the CT18 with a little CT14 for the tougher sections if need be.

Then get your self some CT20 for the body. CT18 is a bit rough for the paint work.

Tooo late, can’t wemeber CT’ numbers, be warned that the ‘pink’ shit is only for external shiny rims/bumpers well under 5 minutes hose off MAX
The ‘blue’ shit can sit for another 10 minutes on old non plastic trucks
FWIW: There’s a bulk mob in Kilsyth where you can take your empty 20L drums for top up off their IBC’s, remind me tomorrow to McGoogle

Yeah the pink shit is for alloy, orange is the degreaser, green is the strong wash, blue is the mild wash and yellow is the wash and wax.

• CT12 Aluminium De oxidiser = Pink
• CT14 Degreaser = Orange
• CT18 Superwash = Green * best wash on the planet to wash the mud off * Can be a bit harsh on the paint work if used all the time
• RL18 Superblue = Blue
• CT20 Wash and Wax = Yellow
