Car Dies When Turning Right After Rear End Accident
Hey guys, just got my car back from the useless insurance people, they said the car runs and drives like a dream, however there is a problem when turning right the engine just dies.
It doesn't turn completely off just seems to loose all power. Just posting to see if any of you guys have experienced this problem before as I am stumped,
The other damage sustained from the accident that could relate to this problem is a bent exhaust that is apparently rubbing on the driveshaft, and panel damage and smashed tail lights.
The car works fine going straight and left but as soon as i turn the steering wheel to the right it dies and only comes back when I turn the wheel straight again.
Any help is greatly appreciated cheers guys.
Car is a 98 GU Patrol 4.5L

No it doesn't seem to happen when I do a U turn either for some reason, for example I was in a roundabout driving it home yesterday and it lost all power, then when I turned the wheel again straight it regained and I drove off

Take it back to your insurer. It is obviously unsafe to drive and you've paid for your insurance excess.

The ignition coil. My daughters 4x4 was doing the same thing only on RH turns. I tossed it on MY oscilloscope and bingo the coil was faulty. Possibly a loose wire internally and when cornering it moved and shorted out.
Could be the condenser, points or an ignition wire. If there is a fault in the system the oscilloscope with show it up.

Are you sure it is not still in 4WD High Range? That will load up the transmission during turns on hard surfaces and cause loss of power.

Yeah I'll give it a look this arvo sounds like it could be the problem, how would I go about testing the coil, can I just stick a multi on it somewhere and what values should I be looking for
