One job becomes two. three .......

    Hi All

I can't be the only one.
    Jobs seem to multiply.
I changed an engine mount on my TD42T GU on the passengers side. The other looked in very good condition.
When I jacked the motor up I placed a large piece of wood between the jack and sump.
As I jacked it up I kept an eye on the sump and only went just enough to get the mount out.
When I started the car it sounded like someone doing a fast bang on a steel drum.
The sump must have deformed a bit. Not enough to see.
Oil drained, sump off and two little tell tail marks inside.
I went over it with a straight edge and took measurements then did a bit of panel beating.
The area where it was hitting went from 34mm to 42mm from the sealing face.
Put it all back together again with new oil.
    No more banging.
2.5 hrs gone on a job I shouldn't of had to do. GRRR

If you don't cause another job you notice another job that needs doing.

I repaired a lose drivers mirror. The 3 screws that hold the head to the base were seized and unable to be tightened.
CRC and vice grips sorted out 2 and the other needed the head drilled off. Once separated I was able to get vice grips on the shank off the screw.
New stainless bolts and she's all fixed. Putting the mirror back on the door I noticed the bailey channel rubber was falling apart.
    One job becomes Two.

I can't be the only one.

    Cheers Shane

The more you do the more you find, the more you do the more you find - on it goes, not new ground unfortunately. Good thing though is the problems get resolved before they get bigger

Buying an old car you expect to do some work to get it bush ready.
I'm slowly working through the list.
One day I'll get there and it will just be maintenance from then on.

I do it all the time, and kick myself for it.

I call it a learning experience.
