    The Patrols have grease lubricated wheel bearings front and rear. The is a seal in the ends of the axle tubes to keep the diff oil in the diffs and not in the wheel bearings, if there is oil in the wheel bearings (usually indicated by oil leaking down the brake backing plates) then the seal needs to be replaced.

    Will probably be the inner oil seal gone (holds diff oil in the casing). Seal kit is cheap, I've just done mine - soon after aquiring the vehicle - and did the swivel axle bearings at the same time, oil in the diff, grease in the hub, when the oil seal goes it seeps out through the hub. Was a satisfying job. Good luck. There is loads of reference to the job and tips in other threads
