Blown ZD30 CRD
Hi my son has just blown his 2012 ZD30 CRD. I think it has blown a hole in a piston. What is best course of action 1. strip and repair engine myself 2. get a second hand engine 3. buy a rebuilt engine. Any help is much appreciated.

Patrol God
If the engine turns over a compression test will tell you if that is the problem, and not an injector or something else.

Very unusual for a ZD of this age to blow a hole in the piston. As mudnut said, get a comp test done, Could be just a turbo or injector, or pump. What makes yous think its a holed piston? What is happening?

G'day and welcome.
As the fella have said, blowing a hole in a piston crown is extremely rare, so likely something else going on.
Plus one again for the compression test.
If the engine is screwed, well go bullet proof https://www.patrol4x4.com/threads/gu...ersion.400169/
