    Just lost 5th gear.

    Hi All

    I've just lost 5th gear in my 99GU with a TD42T.
Can anyone tell me the best people to see here in Adelaide to have it repaired?
While it is out I'll also have a new heavy duty clutch fitted.
What sort of a price should I be looking at?

    Thanks in advance.

    Shane

Hi mate. I would recommend a full reco gearbox. It would be circa 2.5k for a reco box. Clutch would be $700 approx for a Clutch Industries 4 Terrain kit or a Safari Tuff Clutch.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I'll be making a few calls tomorrow to try and find someone here in Adelaide.

Try BigO 4WD, got some inner guard braces off them few years back, look like they do servicing, if so should know Patrols very well. .

Make sure you get a box with the upgraded spline for fifth gear.

    Thanks everyone for the reply's.
I've ordered a recondition box from Precision Differential & Gearbox- $2970
They had one on the shelf so it's getting delivered tomorrow to the mechanic.

Maybe a bit late, but have a look at a brand new 'box.

That's the way I'd be going, if I had to do it again....

Thanks. Something I need to look into soon. My gearbox has 450k on it and doesn't really like changing gears much.
