    Tb42 GQ charging issue

    Hi again all!

My tb42 gq is putting out 15.5v at idle measured on the alternator post

Battery measures 15v at idle.. battery measured 10.8v switched off and somehow just starts the car

Is it likely my alternator AND battery are had it?.. this was very out of nowhere, just noticed it struggled to start this morning.

Is there a possibility it’s a problem with the sense wire? I’m not very cluey when it comes to auto elec. there’s no battery light on the dash

    Cheers!

That sounds as if the battery has dropped a cell. Try borrowing another battery and test it again. Check all the connections and connectors.

Would that cause overcharging? Or should the alternator be regulated to 14.4 regardless

It could be that the alternator has overcharged the battery, but keep it simple. If you can, try another battery and then you will see if it is the alternator causing problems.
