To stop you from starting the engine without pressing the clutch peddle so it won't take off in gear.. Tomorrow, I'll have a look to see if mine has one that has been bypassed.
Car still starts in gear,button depressed or not. No cruise control. It says in manual its a clutch switch and how to change it ,thats all. Thanks guys.
A few 4WDs (Jeep is one) come out with clutch switches that stop the engine from starting unless the clutch is depressed. But that means you can't do a reverse key start when stuck on a very steep slope - so if that's what the switch did it may have been disconnected.
