V9X V6 Navara Engine Conversion GU4 Patrol
Hi Guy,
Regarding engine swaps available for my GU4 there is a nice bunch of engines to choose from, not that I want to do it right now but am starting my research just incase. FYI I did use the search bar and could not find anything, unless of course I didn't ask the question right lol.
So, has anybody done a V9X engine swap into their GU Patrol or know of anyone that has? I was thinking that this engine is overlooked by most but with it's standard 170/550 power is freaking awesome, then after a remap they really rock. Yes I know they have issues with egr's but compared to zd30's surely they'd be a better option.
What I obviously need to know is does the V6 bolt straight up to the auto box? How much engine mount mods are needed if at all? Whats involved in the electrical side of things etc.
Would really appreciate any info. TIA.
Cheers,
Steve.

Hi mate. Never seen this done before, doesn't mean it hasn't happened though. Maybe ring Marks 4wd Adaptors here in Melbourne, they do a lot of kits for conversions. I reckon they would have a good idea if it can be done.
As for the motor. I reckon it would be a great option. An engineers certificate would be needed for this mod though.

IMHO, having to get a certificate to fit a V6, why not just fit a V8? A common mod with kits available.

It’s a Diesel engine. The only V8 diesel variant is the Chev V8 diesel. This V6 engine would be a good choice. Much lighter than the Chev V8 I would think too.

Fair enough, Mark. I am biased against V6. A far more complicated engine than a straight six.

A little more complicated but a far superior engine than a straight six in my opinion. The only thing that I don't really like is the electronics. Much like the ZD30. The less of the "lecky" stuff there is the easier it is I think.
