    Gday everyone

hey lads just bought myself a 1989 nissan patrol Wagon in two tone white with silver. factory TD42 silvertop with a safari turbo kit. ready to sink every next paycheck into this rig for the next forseable couple of years. its going to be a blast. its a safari turbo kit and i was looking into the cross country 4x4 top mount intercoolers. id love to see some pics of you guys running those mad intercoolers.
    cheers

    Welcome aboard Bigfoot Mate!
Loving the sound of that two tone paint work brother, please do post up a picture when time permits
Only my nuffy opinion but believe our faithful old TD42’s are longevity maxed out with a tops 10psi Safari type lazy turbo, personally running one GQ ute exact currently too.
Have personally seen TD42’s internals after coping 25psi shoved through them and their poor old weaker conrods looked like Bananas unfortunately 🥲
I’m lead to believe later model TD42T’s & Ti’s before 2006/7 Global production stop did have slightly stronger goodies inside FWIW.
Stay safe, enjoy the low down torque crawling inertia Brother

Gday mate she sounds like a pearla. Personally think front mounts are a good way to go, mine did have a safari kit with turbo and front mount, have since upgraded the turbo to a BorgWarner but still running Safari front mount cooler. Not sure if their still available but a more generic one sourced through ebay would still work well and a heck of a lot cheaper than a CC, just my two cents. Anyway you go sure will be a beast, good luck with her. . .

Hey mate, I've been running the Cross Country cooler for 7 years, it works great but if I had my time again I think I would go with a front mount intercooler.

Sorry I should have added, the reason I bought the cross country kit is because it was a total "bolt on" solution with no mods required, at the time I did not have the skills or knowledge to go with a DIY front mount.
The kit was good, pipework was not 100% but pretty close, from memory only needed to add a short section of pipe but I suppose each turbo setup is different.
I believe Jonny TIG also do a similar bolt on kit now, apparently good quality as well but I've got no idea how they compare price wise.
