Two tone to single tone GQ

    Hi,

Just wondering if anyone has opted to re-spray their two tone patrol but only top half to match the bottom?

I imagine not possible as would need to blend the new paint with the bottom half and might not look right.

I have a two tone blue and silver GQ and down the road I’d like to respray and end up with just the silver.

It's possible.. But you would either be left with a noticeable line at the join or you'd have to try blend it into the silver and over spray with clear coat anyway.. Which would mean very little price difference between getting the whole thing done I think.

Get a quote from a professional and see what they say.

To me, the two tone looks nice.

It is definitely possible. You would really want someone to match yoyr paint colour rarher than just the paint code as it is 25yo and won't me correct.

The only way you would get away with it is to run a pin stripe at the join.

To be honest though I don't really see saving v value though. The cost of taping up would counter the cost of paint. Closed door respray the whole thing for the win. Fresh Paint is fresh Paint. The difference is probably only $1000

The only good thing about an 80 series is..... the front end?? Wrong!!, the Engine?? Wrong!! the Full Time 4WD system?? Wrong!! Its the NissanPatrol.com.au stubby holder fitted over the transfer lever.

Thanks Guys. I got a few quotes ranging from 3000 to 6000 só at that cost I’d agree can just do the lot and end up with fresh paint! At least I will be going silver all over so any missed spots etc on the bottom half will be less noticeable.

Only other thing I am tossing up is how feasible it is to repair some rust I found in the cowel panel (trough under the windscreen) - I did my best to treat it and bog it up but don’t think this body will last forever (I.e. greater than 5 years) só not sure the paint job will be a good investment.

Maybe I’ll live with it until I do a proper rust repair or body swap with no rust (hard to find a shorty with zero rust these days.) I bought this shorty as it was visually rust free. Was only when I pulled up the carpet that I found moisture and traced it back to pin holes in the cowel panel.

I don’t mind the two tone but for sentimental reasons want a silver GQ eventually.

I might save up and look for a silver one

Two tone to single tone GQ

Full Silver Brumbies are tough as looking I reckon too Nowzly Mate

Even tougher and rpm torque lower when their unfortunate injector pump debacles are finally sorted now

Two tone to single tone GQ

    Another option Nowlzy Mate
Full Blue paint and maybe a set of reduction gears coin if needed with working pump when off turbo that poor Rossco unfortunately suffered hence having to push push rpm keeping her alive flowing uphill
