What terrifies and annoys me more than the actual virus, is the division it is creating amongst people. You cannot escape it.
Every soul has the right to express their thoughts. But fuck me dead things have stepped up a notch lately....
My work for instance, right now is a gloomy depressing shit hole. Work is the same. It's the mood and vibe around the place that makes me shiver...
It is absolutely depressing nowadays. Not because of the virus, or the work, or personal mental issues. It's because of the split between what once were "workmates". Vaxers vs. Anti-vaxers. Believers vs. not believers. Dan Andrews supporters vs. non supporters. Flat earthers vs. round-earthers (Yes we have those too!).
It is absolutely fucked... For the first time in 20 years I actually hate going to work because of it. I've taken so many days off and sickies lately, not because i'm crook or need a holiday. I just hate going in and listening everyone barraging each other with for and against covid shit.
Walking into the mess room each morning and multiple faces glued to the fucking news screen obsessed with covid numbers with various pros and cons chit chats echoing in the background...Can't avoid it. It's hard enough being depressing at home being not allowed to go anywhere amongst other things. Last thing a person needs is to go to work and face the same demons...
For the first time ever I just go in do the work and then fuck off home. There is no point hanging around in the morning or arvos any longer for a chat because it always funnels down the same shit-hole conversation about someones opinion about either the virus, the vaccine, dan andrews, the protests... etc. etc...
I chose not to discuss it with anyone, nor do i watch news or listen to radio. This is the first time i'm voicing my self about it in weeks.

As mentioned several times above, opinions are like shits you take daily. Everyone shits. Some do it once, others shit all fucking day long. And THEN there is some who SHIT all day long and then love to rub it and throw it in your face continuously.
It's how you wield those opinions that can cause an effect.

I'm not an anti-vaxer, but i don't like vaccines personally. Am I gonna pressure someone for or against? Hell no. Your choice. All power to you.
I never had a flu needle to my knowledge. And I've never ever had a flu for that matter. I like to believe in body building it's own immunity personally. But I also believe this covid shit is an entirely different game. So I got vaxed. I have my underlaying dependant reasons for that. Otherwise, that thing would not go anywhere near me.
Whether it will do or help with anything, I don't know. I can only hope. But I made a decision and that was that.
I have a close family member working at one of the hospitals and shes showed and told me stuff that was enough for me to feel i need to act.
Also the place where I'm from in Europe usually has some severe winters, flu and cold seasons. People grew hardy against that. But last year covid hit and annihilated a good chunk of people who otherwise would not have felt a thing. And then I get people waving the "It's just a sniffle/flu" flag right in my face. But I still give them credit for their opinion...Their choice.

What you say is true Hodge.
    The conversation has changed.
It used to be great to chat to friends, workmates, people at the coffee shop. They had interesting stories about what they were doing and you had interesting stories about what you were doing. Since no one is able to do anything like they used to, the talking points have become very limited.

I agree Hodge. Unfortunately I'm about as subtle as a brick and most times covid is brought up I end up in an argument. I'm finding my self more and more just keeping my opinions to myself which is probably a good thing anyway lol. The constant arguing is exhausting.

"When arguing with a fool, first make sure that the other person isn't doing the same thing"

A good quote from a Ted-Ed video about how we overestimate our abilities.

I've always gone by the old saying " never argue with an idiot, they'll just bring you down to their level and then beat you with experience".
