    Engine Quitting in 2nd Gear

    Hi all

New to the Patrol family, bought an ex-telstra 2012 single cab GU a month ago. No huge mods so far but experiencing a re-occuring issue with the engine shutting off whilst driving.

It's happened 5 times now in the last month and its always the same circumstances. First drive of the day (not necessarily cold engine) within a few minutes under moderate acceleration in 2nd gear the engine shuts off, no warning lights. First attempt to crank back over and no firing, second attempt always starts it. All 5 times it happened exactly like this.

I had John at Turbo-Glide in Woonona check her over when I first got her, checked injector pressures, put her on the dyno and fitted a Berrima Diesel DP chip I got for her and he was happy with how she was performing. It was throwing a fuel code so we replaced the suction control valve and after doing some reading here I also replaced the ECM relay with a new one. Still having the same issue as before.

Thanks for the wisdom in advance!

    Cheers

    Dave

Welcome to the forum. You might need to reset the ECU, but I'm no diesel guru. Please head over to the introductions thread and you might get a better response to your questions.

First thing I'd do is remove the chip, reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery for half hour and try again.
