Glow Plug Connected to ECM Relay & No Glow Control Unit?? - 2006 TD42ti

    Hi All,

Does the ECU run the glow plugs on late TD42TI's? (2006)?

I have been having electrical issues, losing power even though I had 2 x New Battery's and 12 Months old Alternator.

Finally something reared it's head that i could look into ... glowing was intermittent, sometimes the glow light would just flash on when first turning ignition on, and it wasn't glowing.

This week it would not glow, so I've been through EVERYTHING[/B .... tonight i found the issue, the "ECM" relay above the "Ignition, Blower, & Accesories" relays on the fuse panel wasn't working. (I accidentally bumped it and the glow plugs clicked on)

Replaced that relay (Pictured), and it's all sweet.

Is this normal?? I don't have a glow plug control unit in the drivers kick panel, the glow plugs must be controlled by the ECM? via this relay, which then switches on the Glow Relay?? 20200512_215428.jpgLocations.jpg.3e5301e3d959a1ef8fc601c450fcdde1.jpg
