    I've developed a short whistle

Since last weekend my patrol has begun to make a whistle upwards of 1500rpm (particularly under acceleration) which disappears after about 1-2mins of driving, after of which everything sounds normal again. If I let the car rest for 15-20mins the sound will be back again for another 1-2mins.

From in the cab it sounds like it's coming from the exhaust side or rear of the engine (behind the stereo).

I've already nipped up all of the intake clamps as I initially thought it was boost related.

Agree get pipe or exhaust manifold, could be both to. I’d recommend to get a new manifold rather than reface the old one. If you do a manifold replace all studs, and likely there will be two snapped studs that will need to be extracted. A test you can do is to rev it and if the sound is there pull the vacuum hose off of the turbo actuator and rev again if noise it gone then you know it’s due to pressure escaping the exhaust. To check the eye pipe crawl under the car on the passenger side look up between the firewall and engine you’ll see a pipe going from the exhaust manifold to the rh side of the engine, usually the hole in the pipe it on the leg side near the manifold and near the weld. You may also see soot around everything indicating the location of the leak.. all that said could be a belt and tensioner but unlikely
