I would like to get a second opinion but no diesel experts in my local area seem to answer their phone............d'oh!

One guy who my normal mechanic found said the CRDs are starting to lose turbos - problem is if the turbo goes it's usually cos of the impeller blades contacting the housing which means metal on metal contact, which means tiny bits of metal being ingested by the ZD30 which means that it could go bang as well................SH1T!!!

So I'm gunna start negotiating with Nissan for them to pay for the repair and then warrant the motor for the next 12 months. Wish me luck!!!!!!!

Oh, and the non genuine quote was $450 ish cheaper based solely on the cost of the turbo.

Does anyone know what exact type of turbo is in the CRD ZD30?

Things have changed a little - the lease company will not approve the replacement of the turbo - tooooo expensive they say.
So I'm gunna bite the bullet and buy one of these

And put the bastard on my self. I will then bill the lease company for the parts and my labour.
Just trying to find out the VIN, will have to wait till Pootrol gets back home tonight, and then ring Nissan to get part number to ensure it is the same as the one in the ebay link

Never done anything like a turbo before so this should be fun!!

On the bright side of things, I have just done another 944klms on 120.86L of diesel which has given me 12.81L per 100klms which is quite good. This is without the roof rack and I have taken the chip express module off. The module will go back on when I put the new turbo on.

Being Xmas, saving for my turbo is not going so well so that won't be put on till late January. I'm hoping that by doing it myself with the help of some mates I might be able to get the turbo, an exhaust plus boost and EGT guages all for under the original Nissan quote

Okay - finally after a long wait MTQ rang me today and advised that my shiny new Garrett turbo is on it's way.

It should arrive tomorrow. I have all the gaskets required for the job plus a new air filter

It won't be going in this weekend as I'm going to Sydney - but it will go in the weekend after. I'm going to take the cooler off and clean the oil residue out of it as well.

Then I'll need to save some more cash for my boost and EGT gauges and then I'll whack the chip back on and wind the boost up a pooftenth to take full advantage of the extra fuel shoved in my injectors.

Never done a job this big before so with the help of mate (and the use of his shed) I hope it goes smoothly

Would have to agree white is a great colour, Have noticed some package deals for exhaust and chips in 4wd action magazine. maybe check that out

Well surpise, surpsie it's not the turbo that is shagged. I have spent approx $2k on a new turbo - put it on and the noise did not change......................FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
So took it back off to take a close look at manifold and it's leaking between the block and the manifold - this is what the friggen noise is.
6 out of the 8 studs came out sweet, the other two we are in the process of drilling out.
Plus I need 2 new batteries and the intercooler needs replacing as well
Truck will stay in the driveway till Monday - I'm going off to tuff trucks
